We are hiring an Applications Support Analyst for our IT Team!


Provides all around technical support including on call support.  Support application solutions associated with new projects and effect minor corrections/changes to existing applications.  Provides support for various functions within IT in troubleshooting and developing solutions.  Provides support with other business functions to define/clarify requirements, testing plans, etc. Acts independently when needed.




Production Technical/Application Support:

  • Assists in researching technical solutions and computer processes for automating work functions throughout the corporation.
  • Provides technical advice to both end users and IT systems/programming personnel.
  • Works to resolve processing problems such as scheduling, program bugs, data corruption remediation, etc.
  • Participates in the upgrade of third party software running on various systems as directed by and in conjunction with other IT teams.  Consults with network services, desktop / systems engineering, and / or applications development to restore service and identify/ correct core systems problems.
  • Acts independently on assigned tasks with support from direct manager. 
  • Analyzes system issues to evaluate root cause and design/develop solutions to remediate issue, tests solutions and document specifications, modifications or design changes.
  • Provides support and on call for all batch cycles – monitor, identify & correct problems, and assist with testing streams. 
  • Participates in problem/change management activities to minimize impact of service disruptions on end users. 
  • Performs preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolution for complex technical incidents. 
  • Works on SQL Server and other application processes, on call for natural and SQL/scripting processes.
  • Assists in quality assurance, user satisfaction, and meeting planned completion target dates.
  • Documents procedures and processes accordingly. Suggest process improvement for applications or processes. 

Team/Project Support:

  • Works with the lines of business to understand and refine business requirements and objectives; researches technical solutions, direction and designs; documents results of research and making proposals and recommendations; formulates project estimates; develops application solutions. 
  • Is responsible for object design, coding, testing, debugging, and documenting assigned projects. 
  • Provides technical instruction, assistance, and direction to development staff members and/or Business Users. 
  • May be asked to act in a Lead role to coordinate all aspects of a small project, or to coordinate a specific track of larger projects and may entail project status reports. 


  • Maintain current infrastructure systems supporting application environments.
  • Perform patch management, routine maintenance, respond to alerts and thresholds, provide access and support to internal IT teams for access management.
  • Assist support teams in running the day-to-day activities that support the IT systems overall.

Defined Activities may consist of the following:


  • Perform Data loads for “Circulation and Finder” processing
  • Administer multiple applications    
  • Testing/validation of changes
  • Execute Monthly Data Loads
  • Participate in Error Monitoring and the defined On-call processes


Advocating and implementing IT standards, policies and procedures:

  • Naming conventions
  • Security Standards
  • User access administration
    • OS patching
    • Viability testing for new security measures
  • Process Documentation



Required Qualifications

              Education, Licensing, Certification, and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree – IT, or other undergraduate degree with related experience
  • >5 years experience with many platforms, products, technologies, and disciplines.


              Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated self starter and ability to work with general supervision
  • Must be able to work individually and collaboratively in a team
  • Ability to learn a wide range of platforms, applications, processes
  • Operates PC for 8 hours per day performing many functions.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong Analytical  and Technical Design skills
  • Strong Testing skills
  • Develop skills in the Operating systems (mainframe, Microsoft, Unix)
  • Develop Expertise in SQL Server, Scripting, and SQL/PL-SQL  preferred
  • Develop understanding of VMWare, Linux, Windows  processes
  • Develop skills in a variety of languages/utilities – COBOL, JCL, Sort, & IBM Utilities, Scripting
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Knowledge of Natural (batch & on-line) / ADABAS preferred
