We're currently seeking a Tax Accountant who will be responsible for the company’s tax compliance and reporting processes by ensuring accurate filings, maintaining reliable financial records, and upholding timely communication with tax authorities. This role contributes to the accuracy of tax-related accounting, assists with audits, and helps resolve issues to ensure continued compliance across multiple tax regions. It also plays a key part in maintaining organized tax operations and supporting overall financial reliability.
How you will contribute:
- Prepare and review tax returns for monthly, quarterly, and annual filings. Administer, prepare, file and pay US sales and use tax, Canadian HST, and US unclaimed property.
- Responsible for providing required information and ensuring timely and accurate filing of outsourced sales and use tax returns.
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of assigned tax returns and other information provided to taxing authorities and for meeting all required deadlines.
- Calculate sales and use tax accruals and perform general ledger account analysis and reconciliation related to tax responsibilities.
- Prepare and maintain tax records, documentation supporting tax filings, and related schedules and reports.
- Ensure that the tax calendar is maintained and updated as needed.
- Address and assist in resolving notices from taxing jurisdictions in a timely manner.
- Prepare journal entries and reconcile general ledger and subsidiary accounts.
- Assist with audits (procure necessary detailed information, prepare necessary schedules and audit documentation, and discussions with auditors)
- Mainframe system access will be utilized as needed.
What you will bring and skills that excite us:
- BS in Accounting or equivalent.
- 3+ years of experience of relevant financial experience in an accounting role.
- Well-developed written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work in an organized, detailed manner under tight deadlines.
- Possesses and applies a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of accounting/corporate tax knowledge to the completion of difficult assignments.
- Evaluation, originality or ingenuity is required.
- Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Software applications include Microsoft Excel; spreadsheet proficiency should include ability to build models and perform advanced analysis functions.
